PTSA Officers


PTSA Officer Roles and Responsibilities
President
  • Leading, supervising, planning, running/mediating the flow of meetings
  • Liaison with DCS Administration
  • Alternate representative to Board of Directors (non-voting) if designee unavailable

1st Vice-President
  • Assist President in all of the above
  • Stand in for President if President unavailable
  • Membership Chairperson

Vice-President, High School Affairs
Must have a student enrolled in DCS Grades 9-12
  • Assist President and 1st Vice-President with high school-specific items and events
  • Represent high school stakeholders

Vice-President, Middle School Affairs
Must have a student enrolled in DCS Grades 6-8
  • Assist President and 1st Vice-President with middle school-specific items and events
  • Represent middle school stakeholders

Treasurer
  • Keep books and detailed records of all financial transactions
  • Develop budget

Recording Secretary
  • Prepare and keep records and minutes of all meetings

Correspondence Secretary
  • Prepare newsletter and correspondence with membership

Board Appointees (non-Officer Position)
  • Two PTSA appointees sit on the Charter School Authority Board of Directors, a High School Representative and a Middle School Representative
  • Representatives must have a child in the respective grades.
  • Subject to Sunshine Law from Day of Appointment
